Mark Chapman

Mark Chapman, has been working with communities in North Wollo for 6 years, and seeking a way to enable the communities to develop facilities for tourists. With a background in training, marketing and logistics, and as an avid traveller in the past, Mark came back to Ethiopia in 1999, when his wife began working for an NGO based in Addis Ababa. Mark quickly saw the potential that he had noted on an earlier trip to Ethiopia, and since then has been working as a consultant to realise his vision of a series of networks of community tourism enterprises (CTEs) offering tourists a chance to see what he has seen in this remarkable and unique country.
About the individual operators belonging to the network
TESFA is seeking to set up a central support office. This office will use a percentage of the proceeds from the tourism for its running costs and among other activities will market the networks and take bookings for all CTEs. The network of CTEs will be linked by this support office. Until this is in place TESFA is responsible for these activities and has contracted Mark Chapman to coordinate bookings and develop the marketing.
