Brigitte Schuster
Brigitte Schuster joined IUCN Botswana in January 2005 and is coordinating the CBNRM Support Programme Phase 2. In this position Brigitte has the overall responsibility for facilitating the dialogue between all CBNRM stakeholders in Botswana and providing technical backstopping to the National CBNRM Forum. She also takes the lead in maximising the exchange of lessons learnt with similar initiatives in the Southern African Region. Brigitte holds a Master´s degree in Biology specialised in nature conservation and rural development. Before she joined IUCN Botswana, Brigitte has been managing environmental education projects for an NGO that aimed to achieve the goals of the Agenda 21 at a local level.. She gathered experience in community based projects, when she was working in a project in the Eastern Amazon Region (Brazil) that involved local small-scall farmers to identify sustainable land-use systems as an alternative to slash-and-burn agriculture.
Brigitte Schuster a rejoint l’IUCN Botswana en janvier 2005. Ses
responsabilités l’engagent à faciliter le dialogue entre tous les
instigateurs de CBNRM au Botswana. Elle fournit ainsi un soutien
technique au National CBNRM Forum, et veille à maximiser les échanges
entre les initiatives de même nature dans la région sud de l’Afrique.
Brigitte a une Maîtrise de biologie spécialisée en conservation et
développement rural. Son expérience en matière de projets
communautaires lui vient en partie d’un projet auquel elle a pris part
en Amazonie orientale (Brésil) et qui consistait à aider les petits
paysans à identifier des pratiques viables d’utilisation des terres, au
lieu de recourir à l’agriculture itinérante sur brûlis.
