Amanda Stronza
Dr. Amanda Stronza is an Assistant Professor in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Sciences at Texas A&M University. She earned a Ph.D. in Anthropology with a concentration in Tropical Conservation and Development at the University of Florida in 2000 and spent two years as a Lang Postdoctoral Fellow in Anthropological Sciences at Stanford University. Since 1993, she has been studying linkages between local participation and conservation in Madre de Dios, Peru. In 2003, she directed the "Trueque Amazonico," an initiative funded by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund to compare and exchange lessons learned between three community-based ecotourism projects in Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia.
