Meike Mumm

Meike Mumm has been working with GTZ, a German governmental technical assistance agency, since 2005. As a geographer she was first involved with Akha people in 2002 when she conducted research on the importance of opium in Akha livelihoods in Northern Laos. In order to help the villagers to have alternative means of income she joined GTZ, helping and enabling the villagers to set up their own trekking tour.

Bill Tuffin has been living in Laos since 1990. He has done development work with Save the Children France and Norwegian Church Aid in Akha villages since 1992. Together with a local family, Bill Tuffin, started the award winning eco-lodge, the Boat Landing Guest House with the goal of helping local people benefit from tourism and to make tourism a positive experience for all.
