Despite the general depression in growth of tourism in Zimbabwe, SAFIRE has maintained interest and continued to support community tourism in Zimbabwe SAFIRE. Together with other development agencies and partners, such as the CAMPFIRE Association, currently supports over 20 Community Based Tourism Enterprises in Zimbabwe and recently has established a National Association. This support has ranged from business development and marketing training through to investment in infrastructure. Due to the nature of the industry, SAFIRE has continued to maintain interest in supporting both the National and Regional level community based tourism development activities. SAFIRE facilitated the establishment of a regional collaborative group of institutions involved in supporting community based tourism activities in Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa and Mozambique. Direct support has been given to communities in 8 districts in Zimbabwe including Chimanimani, Muzarabani, Nyanga, Binga, Chiredzi, Matobo, Hwange, Mazowe, Goromonzi, Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe, Mudzi, Makoni.
The renewed interest in The Great Limpopo Transfontier Park brings new hope to community tourism in Sengwe. SAFIRE also facilitates Information exchange between CBT enterprises and the establishment of strategic partnerships.
