For 12 years Cheyenne Trailriders has been taking guests into the interior regions of the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in southeastern Montana. It is owned and operated by Zane and Sandy Spang, both members of the Tribe.
Guests are given the options available and invited to design their own adventure which can take anywhere from an hour to a week. They can choose to learn about the history and culture of the Tribe or be taught to identify reservation plants and learn their usages. Many choose to camp out in the pine covered hills in tipis and to listen to flute music as they sit around a campfire or participate in a noisy “handgame.”
Entertainment is provided by local Indian artists and can even include a “mini-powwow.” Since interest in the entire reservation is high they also do automobile tours. Large groups or non-riders can choose to ride in a horse drawn wagon.
