Bungooleee Tours is owned and operated by Dillon Andrews, a Bunuba man from the remote Biridu Aboriginal community in the Fitzroy Crossing region of the Kimberley in Australia’s North West. Guests on Bugoolee Tours experience Bunaba cultural protocols through participation in ‘smoking’ and ‘calling’ ceremonies at entry to places of spiritual significance.
A respected leader of the Bunubu tribe, Dillon Andrews is host and owner of Bungoolee Tours which provides three day tours offering a unique insight into Aboriginal spiritual beliefs associated with the spectacular Windjana Gorge and Tunnel Creek landforms of an ancient Devonian reef system. Dillon offers a privileged opportunity for travellers to visit to his clan’s ‘outstation’ where they camp overnight and have the opportunity to meet other members of the Biridu Aboriginal community. This small community is willing to share with visitors their lifestyle, stories and spiritual beliefs of how the land was created. Visitors can learn the story and visit the area of caves where the legendary Bunuba ancestor Jandamarra lived, who in the 1890s led a fierce and sustained resistance to inland advancement and European settlement on tribal lands.
